How to use this average calculator
Type or paste your numbers into the text area — separated by commas, spaces, or new lines — and press Calculate. The average calculator instantly computes ten descriptive statistics, giving you a complete picture of your data set. Everything runs locally in your browser; no data is sent to a server.
What each statistic means
Mean is the arithmetic average (sum ÷ count). Median is the middle value when sorted. Mode is the most frequently occurring value(s). Range is max minus min. Standard deviation measures how spread out the values are from the mean (population formula), and variance is its square. Sum, count, min, and max are self-explanatory.
When to use these statistics
Use the mean for general averages (grades, prices). Use the median when outliers might skew the mean (salaries, house prices). Use the mode to find the most common value (survey responses). Standard deviation and variance are essential in science, finance, and quality control to understand data variability.
