What is keyword density?
Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears in your content relative to the total word count. For example, if your article has 1,000 words and your target keyword appears 15 times, the density is 1.5%. Search engines use keyword frequency as one of many signals to understand what a page is about.
What is the ideal keyword density?
There is no magic number, but most SEO experts recommend a primary keyword density between 1% and 3%. Going too high risks being flagged as keyword stuffing, which can hurt your rankings. Focus on writing naturally and using synonyms and related terms. Analysing 2-word and 3-word phrases (n-grams) helps you spot unintentional repetition.
